Medical Psychology involves helping patients cope with, adjust to, and recover from medical challenges which can include aging, chronic/progressive /congenital conditions, and traumatic injury. Dr. Sapire takes referrals from physicians as well as directly from patients. Dr. Sapire initially built his Medical Psychology practice working with world-renowned physicians from UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, before moving to the Coachella Valley. In a highly specialized branch of Medical Psychology, Dr. Sapire helps patients recover/enhance their social, relational, and sexual quality of life in the face of medical challenges.
Dr. Sapire is one of few Psychologists in the Coachella Valley who offer EMDR and Biofeedback as an adjunct to psychotherapy. These interventions, sometimes use technology and medical instrumentation to help patients self-regulate without medication.
In Sport Psychology, Dr. Sapire focuses on the competitive needs of golfers - from professionals and talented juniors, to weekend players who find their shots deteriorate under pressure. He's been fixing "the yips" for decades.
Dr. Sapire is an in-network provider for Medicare and Triwest (an agency representing the VA).
